Our Neighbourhood Have Your Say
The Community Council has had a number of complaints about the standard of maintenance being provided to us by Glasgow City Council at present.
Specific issues include:
1. "The Lanton Park", MerryleeRd/LubnaigRd
Officially known as the “Merrylee Road Recreation Ground” the “Doggie Park”, seen left, has been the subject of a policy that has been adopted, by Glasgow City Council, of not cutting the grass “to encourage wildlife”. The neighbours are also feeling pretty “wild” – you can see why!
2. "Doggie Park", Newlands Rd opp Kintore Rd
Similar comments have been made about this piece of ground, where this “wild flower” was recently observed.
3. "The Condition of Our Streets"
Pavements and gutters infested with weeds, potholed roads, rusted lamp posts and railings that have not seen a painter for many a long year, now seem to be the norm.
The example that you see on the left was raised by a member of the public at the Community Council Meeting on 1st June and reported to Glasgow City Council at that time – but nothing has been done.
So, what do you think? Money is clearly tight but, at the same time, many homes in this area have seen their Council Tax increase substantially this year.
· Are we getting our fair share of the available resources?
· And what would be your priorities?
You can submit your views to the Community Council using the email link below and we will take the matter up with our City Councillors at our regular meetings. You are also most welcome to attend these meetings in person and put forward your point of view.
